Dr. Brennan Carr is the Department Chair for the Business Admin/Economics department at Long Beach City College and a Professor of Business and Management. He has been teaching within the California Community College system, and private universities, for the past seventeen years. His teaching focuses on Leadership, Management, Organizational Behavior, and Human Resources.

Prior to becoming an educator, Dr. Carr spent 20 years in the private business sector in industries such as high-tech and financial services. He spent the first half of his career in sales and sales management, becoming an award-winning sales executive during that time. In the second half of his business career, Dr. Carr was responsible for managing research and analysis in areas such as strategic relations and mergers & acquisitions. In this role, Dr. Carr specialized in financial, marketing, competitive, and strategic research & analysis.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Dr. Carr is an active business consultant specializing in Leadership Development, Team Building, and Organizational Development/Behavior.

Dr. Carr holds an Ed.D. in Organizational Leadership from Pepperdine University’s Graduate School of Education and Psychology. The focus of his dissertation was on the persistence and academic attainment of student service members/veterans within community college Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs. In 2020, Dr. Carr was awarded the prestigious Postsecondary Career and Technical Education Research Fellowship through the ECMC Foundation and North Carolina State University. Through this research fellowship, Dr. Carr continues to focus on the academic performance and achievement of student service members/veterans and other non-traditional and underrepresented community college CTE students. In 2021, Dr. Carr was accepted into the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) Data Institute where he worked with a team of scholars to research affirmative action bans on postsecondary student retention. Additionally, Dr. Carr holds an MBA with an emphasis in Finance from Pepperdine University, and a BBA in Business Management from National University.  Dr. Carr is a fully certified Emotional Intelligence practitioner, as well as a Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI®) Certified Practitioner.

Dr. Carr is a proud veteran of the US Air Force. During his time in the service, he was stationed at the most powerful military base in the world working on PeaceKeeper and Minuteman III nuclear Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles (ICBM).
