LBCC Afterschool Program

Who is this program for?
LBCC students who are caregivers to youths ages 6-18 years old. Caregivers could be parents, grandparents, guardians, siblings, or others responsible for childcare.
Is there a cost for LBCC students?
No, there is no cost for LBCC students.
What are the locations and hours?
There are two locations:
Liberal Arts Campus (On-campus at LAC) |

What will the children do in the afterschool program?
The Boys and Girls Clubs successfully runs afterschool childcare sites across the country, and they have established programs that support children’s growth and education. Children will have the opportunity to participate in music, athletics, and STEM programs, in addition to receiving homework help.
Do children need to stay in the program the full time every day?
No, children will not need to stay for the full time every day. However, we do ask that children maintain a regular schedule (for example: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.). This will help us make sure that adequate space and staffing are available to care for them. Additionally, priority will be given to children who can attend at least 12 hours a week.
Why is LBCC offering this program to students?
The purpose of the program is to provide additional support to LBCC students who are caregivers, so that they can focus on being successful at LBCC. This program will allow them to drop children off at the afterschool program and then attend classes, counseling appointments, study groups, or campus events, or if they just need time in the library or computer lab.
How can LBCC students sign up for this program?
Visit www.bgclublb.org/member and select “Viking Clubhouse” to get started!
How to Enroll for the First Time:
Once you have clicked on www.bgclublb.org/member and selected “Viking Clubhouse,” click ”NEW ACCOUNT” and enter your first and last name, address, e-mail, and phone number.
Once that is submitted, we will review your information and then send you an e-mail with a link to complete an application (may take 1-2 business days).
Look for an e-mail from “noreply@nfocus.com” with the subject line ”Welcome to Trax Online.” This e-mail will have a link to confirm your e-mail address and activate your account.
Use the link to complete the online application with information about your children and various permissions/waivers.
Someone will contact you to confirm that your child(ren) are officially enrolled in the Afterschool Program and provide additional details about program participation.
Is there a deadline to apply for the program?
Spaces are limited, so the sooner the better. However, if spaces open up throughout the year, there may be additional opportunities to participate.
What if students are not selected to participate in this program?
Unfortunately, we may not have the capacity to serve all students. We will provide students with information about the Boys and Girls Clubs, which operates many sites throughout the region, with 12 in Long Beach alone. The fee to enroll a child directly in their afterschool programs is only $15/year per child.
Is transportation from my child’s school to the afterschool program location provided?
Unfortunately, at this time transportation from your child’s school to the afterschool program location is not provided. You are responsible for getting your child to the afterschool program.
