Intern Registration: Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California (ACCBC)


Addiction Counselor Certification Board of California LogoAddiction Counselor Certification Board of California (ACCBC) provides registration numbers for interns once the students are in HS 72A. All students are required and must obtain a registration number as interns in order to start internships during their practicum courses HS 72A and HS 72B. ACCBC also provides examination eligibility. Once students complete their state required hours of 2240, ACCBC provides them with the appropriate Certified Addiction Treatment Counselor (CATC) level recertification.

California Association for Drug Alcohol Educators LogoThe California Association for Alcohol/Drug Educators was incorporated as a not-for-profit organization in 1984 under the direction of founder Dr. Dick Wilson. CAADE initially began with the goal of setting and upholding accreditation standards for Alcohol/Drug Studies Programs in California and continues to do so. The institution has a vision to be a leader in state and national collaborative efforts that improve the overall health and welfare of those afflicted with substance use disorders.

Ethical Standards: The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC)


National Association of Alcoholism Counselors and Trainers LogoFounded in 1972, as the National Association of Alcoholism Counselors and Trainers (NAACT), the organization’s primary objective was to develop a field of professional counselors with professional qualifications and backgrounds. The organization evolved and became the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors (NAADAC) in 1982, uniting professionals who worked for positive outcomes in alcohol and drug services. NAADAC’s new name – NAADAC, the Association for Addiction Professionals – was adopted in 2001 and reflects the increasing variety of addiction services professionals: counselors, administrators, social workers and others, who are active in counseling, prevention, intervention, treatment, education and research.
