The New GE pattern for CSU and UC

Effective Fall 2025, Assembly Bill 928 (AB 928) requires that California Community Colleges (CCC) implement a singular lower division general education (GE) pattern called the California General Education Transfer Curriculum (Cal-GETC). Cal-GETC will satisfy the necessary lower division GE requirements for transfer and admissions to the California State University (CSU) and University of California (UC)

Cal-GETC will be an 11 course/34 semester unit curriculum that will satisfy the necessary lower-division general education requirements for the CSU and UC systems. A grade of ā€œCā€ or higher will be required for all coursework completed.  The implementation of a singular lower division GE pattern will provide students with a smoother transition from the CCC to CSU and UC.
