Refunds & Unpaid Balances
Enrollment fees will automatically be refunded to students who officially drop during the refund/transfer period. Classes dropped or transferred after the refund deadline will not be eligible for a refund.
A student must officially drop during the refund/transfer period to clear any balance due. A balance due is not cleared by never attending a class for which a student has registered.
District refunds (enrollment fees, material fees, non-resident tuition, health fees, and overpayment credits) will be credited to the card used if paid online by credit card. Payments in person (credit card, cash, check) will be refunded by check and mailed to the student’s address on record on the Viking Student Portal.
Refunds will be distributed after the 2nd week of the term and again after the 9th week of the Fall and Spring terms. During the Winter and Summer terms, refunds will be distributed after the 2nd week of the term.
All refunds will be applied to any outstanding fees on a student’s account, even if those fees have a future due date. The remaining refund will be credited to the card used or a check will be issued.
California College Promise Grant (CCPG) Refunds
Eligible students who pay their enrollment fees, and then become a CCPG student, will receive a refund according to the current deadlines for the semester.
College Service Card Fee Refunds
Fees will be refunded by the Cashier’s Office within the refund/transfer period as defined in the Viking Student Portal. To be eligible for a refund, the College Services Card sticker must be surrendered to the Cashier’s Office with proof of complete withdrawal from Long Beach City College. No refund will be granted without appropriate documentation.
Parking Permit Refunds
Parking Permit refund transactions are processed by the Cashier’s Office. To be eligible for a refund, the Parking Permit must be surrendered to the Cashier’s Office within the refund/transfer period as defined in the Viking Student Portal.
Unpaid Balances
Any balance that remains unpaid past the due date will cause a hold on a student account and prevent further registration and obtaining grades or transcripts. Accounts can be brought into good standing by making a credit card payment via the web or payment in person. Holds will release within 30 minutes after payment. If your hold does not release, please contact the Cashier’s Office for assistance.
Factors that can affect your refund
Refunds will be reduced by miscellaneous fees such as lab fines, unpaid fee increases, and returned checks. If the amount of unpaid fines and fees exceeds the amount fo a refund, the refund will not be processed until the amount due is cleared.
