As a student at LBCC, you have the right to:

• Know what financial assistance is available, including information on all federal, state and institutional financial aid programs.
• Know the cost of attending LBCC, its refund policies, and academic requirements.
• Know the deadlines for submitting applications for all financial aid programs.
• Know the criteria used by the Financial Aid Office to award financial aid funds and how your financial need is determined.
• Know the financial aid policies on Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and implications of not making SAP.
• Request a re-evaluation of your income based on special circumstances.

 Things you should know as a financial aid recipient:

• You must submit a FAFSA application for financial aid each year – the FAFSA application opens on October 1^st of each year for the following year. 
• The Financial Aid year at LBCC starts in Fall and ends in the following Summer, covering the Fall, Spring and Summer terms each year. 
• Your FAFSA application will be used to determine your eligibility for federal and state grants including the California Promise Grant (formerly the BOG Fee Waiver).
• You are expected to show Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) by maintaining a cumulative 2.0 GPA, completing at least 67% of all units attempted, and completing their program of study (degree, certificate) in no more than 150% of the units required for that program of study (ex: a 60-unit degree must be completed in no more than 90 units).  Failure to meet SAP standards may result in loss of financial aid eligibility.
• If you withdraw from all of your classes before you have completed 60% of the semester, you will be required to repay some or all of the financial aid you have received for that semester.
• Grants are disbursed to the refund preference you have chosen with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc.
• Work-study funds must be earned and are paid monthly according to an hourly rate of pay and the number of hours a student works. Checks will be disbursed by the Payroll Department.
• California Promise Grants pay your enrollment fees only. If a student already paid these fees and was eligible to receive a Promise Grant, a refund will be issued to the refund preference you have chosen with BankMobile Disbursements, a technology solution, powered by BMTX, Inc.
