Long Beach City College Wins Big at Community College Communications Conference
Communications Department Wins Multiple Awards for Excellence in Visual Communication Categories
On Wednesday, April 12, the Long Beach City College Public Affairs and Marketing Department (LBCC) walked away with multiple awards from the Community College Public Relations Organization’s 35th Annual Conference (CCPRO), held at the Universal City Sheraton. The team, represented by Carl Kemp, Executive Director of Public Affairs and Marketing, and Stacey Toda, Associate Director of Communications and Community Engagement, collected a total of six awards in a crowded field of all 116 California’s community colleges and won the top prize in three categories.
“We are extremely proud that this talented team was able to bring the trophies back to LBCC again this year,” said Dr. Mike Muñoz, Superintendent-President of LBCC. “We know how amazing they are because we see it in the stunning work they produce for us year-round. I’m grateful that CCPRO was also able to see their greatness and reward it accordingly.”
The department took first place for Internal Communications (College Day 2022), Banner/outdoor media (Kinesiology Labs and Aquatic Center wall wraps) and Poster (Fall Dance 2022). Other prizes included second place for Note/card/invite (College Day 2022), and third place for Charles Cropsey Photography (Dance) and College Promotional Video – Long Format (I am a Champion).
“We are fortunate to have team members whose love for LBCC is only surpassed by the talent they exhibit in their individual areas of expertise,” said Kemp. One of the anonymous comments from the judges said it best, “You can really tell an idea was hatched and every aspect of how to promote that idea and theme was executed in the best ways possible.”
