The Viking News print edition took home a total of seven awards at the Journalism Association of Community Colleges (JACC) SoCal Conference held Sept. 30 at California State University, Fullerton.

The following JACC awards were based on the students’ work published in the Viking News print and lbccviking.com online editions during the 2017-18 school year:

• Second place, Sports Action Photo: Cynthia Alvarez
• Second place, Informational Graphic: M. Smith
• Second place, Video Journalism: M. Smith
• Fourth place, Front Page Layout: Viking staff
• Honorable mention, Photo Story/Essay: Alberto Nunez

LBCC also earned the following honors during the conference’s on-the-spot competition:

• Second place, Copy Editing: Steven Matthews
• Honorable mention, Critical Review: Alyssa Vega
