Upcoming Events High School Outreach
Long Beach City College hosts several recurring events to help students smoothly transition from high school to college. Our goal is to provide you with application and registration assistance and connect you with various resources that will support your academic and personal progress. Check out some of our upcoming events below!
FALL/WINTER
Registration Workshops
This workshop offers counseling and course enrollment support for new and continuing students. This includes our Priority Registration Workshop for Long Beach College Promise (LBCP), Viking Advantage, and Continuing LBCP students.
Orientation + Next Steps
This live orientation is an interactive presentation designed to help students become familiar with LBCC’s academic options, matriculation steps, student expectations, and support services.
High School Educator Conference
This event is an opportunity for local counselors and educators to learn about the programs and benefits prospective students receive by attending LBCC. Please note: This is not a student-facing event.
College Promise Family Night
The event is free & open to prospective students and their families. Participants will learn more about Viking Advantage/Long Beach College Promise awards. Families will also learn about the FAFSA/California Dream Act application process, LBCC’s cultural learning communities, and other student resources!
SPRING/SUMMER
Viking Preview Day
Get ready for the first year at LBCC! Viking Preview Day is an event open to all incoming students & their families. The event will provide guests with the opportunity to:
- Learn about LBCC’s academic programs and majors.
- Connect with Student Support services & student clubs
- Meet LBCC professors, counselors, staff, & other students
- Take a tour of our campus
Express Days
Viking Express Day is a registration workshop that provides services including, orientation, course placement, counseling, financial aid, and registration.
Viking Summer Voyage
Students who are a part of Long Beach College Promise & Viking Advantage will participate in an 8-day in-person summer transition program and choose from one of two experiences to gain the necessary tools to be successful in college and beyond.
If you would like to register for Viking Summer Voyage, please complete the following steps:
- STEP 1: Record your interest by submitting an RSVP HERE.
- STEP 2: A staff member will reach out to you beginning May 2025.
- STEP 3: Attend the Mandatory Meeting on Tuesday, July 1 (12:30 – 2:00pm).

Welcome Day
Welcome Day is a one-day event that will help new students transition from high school to college. Students and parents/guardians will get prepared for a successful first year through a Welcome Session, Campus Resource Panel, Games & Activities, Resource Fair, and Parent Workshops.
By attending the entire event, students who meet the requirements of Viking Advantage or Long Beach College Promise and did not attend Viking Summer Voyage will receive a $100 book voucher.
