The Creative Writing program offers courses designed to explore and refine a student’s creative expression. The Creative Writing coursework provides exceptional preparation for different job and career paths in writing, editing, or publishing industries. Our program also provides preparation for students seeking to transfer to four-year colleges or universities. Students may also pursue an Associate degree in Creative Writing through our program.
Students have the option to focus on poetry, fiction, or novel writing workshop environments. Students engage and collaborate with creative writing faculty to refine their writing skills and are presented opportunities to showcase their creative works in our Program’s own student-run literary journal, SAGA. The program also hosts a series of ongoing public events, including our Visiting Writers Series, The Literary Voice for publication, and open mic events.

Students who study Creative Writing develop the writing and communication skills necessary to connect people in a disconnected world. Narratives move people, shift public opinion, drive individuals to act, affect change. Behind every successful creative project, business, group, movement, and brand identity is a well-told story.
A Creative Writing degree equips students to write the story. The Associates in Arts Degree, English, Creative Writing prepares students with the necessary skills to pursue the beginning of a writing career or further education at a four-year college. A Creative Writing A.A. degree is meant to focus on creativity, communication, and innovation.
