This field of concentration is designed to prepare the student for certification by the State Department of Health Services, Radiological Health Section, and Registration by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists (ARRT) after testing. The end objective is to prepare students for employment as practicing medical imaging professionals in Acute Care Hospitals, Medical Clinics, or private offices.

FAQ
Do I need to complete all the courses for an associate degree before I can apply to the program?
No, as explained in the DMI information brochure, in order to apply to the DMI program you must attend an information session and complete the three prerequisite courses with a ācā or better. Pass/no pass grades will NOT be accepted in the pre-requisite courses. Also, the three pre-requisite courses may not be older than 5 years.
Can I take any of the pre-requisites at another college?
- You may substitute AH60 at LBCC for a medical terminology course at another accredited college if it is 3 units and the course is transferable to CSU.
- You may substitute AH41 at LBCC for an anatomy and physiology combo course at another accredited college if it is 5 units with a lab and the course is transferable to CSU.
- You may substitute AH61 at LBCC for ONLY RADT153 at Cypress College ā no other substitute is allowed.
Do I need to submit all my official college transcripts to LBCC before applying to the DMI program?
Yes, as well as your overall college GPA must be 2.5 or higher to be eligible to apply. Failure to submit all college coursework will result in application rejection/program dismissal.
Am I able to take the TEAS exam before I apply to the DMI program?
NO. You are able to schedule the TEAS exam after your application has been accepted.
How do I get on the waitlist?
Candidates are placed on a waitlist based on the date when they submit in person their DMI application.
How long is the waitlist?
2-3 years.
Do you accept transfers from other radiology programs?
No. You would need to follow the LBCC application process. There is no advance placement.
Am I able to apply to the DMI program online?
NO. All our applications are in person only. You must provide proof upon applying that you have completed the 3 prerequisites, attended an information meeting, and have an overall GPA of 2.5 or higher.
