Long Beach City College (LBCC) has been named a 2021 Champion of Higher Education for the fourth time in five years by the Campaign for College Opportunity during a virtual event today, Nov. 16.
LBCC Launches Pilot Program for Student Overnight Parking
Long Beach City College (LBCC) officials have announced the implementation of a pilot Safe Parking Program for enrolled students to reside in their vehicles overnight in a secure campus location. This pilot program is the only known program of its kind in the region at a community college.
LBCC initiated this program to address the needs of unhoused students and provide a safe place for them to park overnight.
LBCC Seeking New Committee Members
Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Citizens’ Oversight Committee (COC) is now accepting applications from community members for the Community-at-Large position. In addition, the COC continues to search for a resident who can fill in as the representative of a Bona-Fide Taxpayers’ Association. The application period to apply to become a member of the COC will run through Thurs., Nov. 4, 2021.

Long Beach City College’s Automotive Technology program received an unsolicited $10,000 donation from the Greater Los Angeles New Car Dealers Association.
LBCC Trustee Vivian Malauulu Elected to Prestigious Community College National Organization
At the annual Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) Leadership Congress meeting last week, Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Board of Trustees Member Vivian Malauulu was elected to the ACCT Board of Directors. She received the largest number of votes out of all the candidates. The Director-at-Large position is a three-year term.
