Long Beach City College Awarded More Than $10 Million in Climate Resiliency Grants
Two grants position LBCC to be a major contributor to building climate-conscious workforce
Long Beach City College (LBCC) has been awarded more than $10 million in grants to help lead efforts to build a qualified workforce supportive of climate resiliency in Los Angeles and Orange counties. LBCC will receive $9.5 million from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) Inflation Reduction Act Climate-Ready Workforce (CRW) for Coastal and Great Lakes States, Tribes, and Territories Initiative.

LBCC Expands Eight-Week Course Offerings to Give More Options to Students Who Are Juggling Work and Family Obligations
Eight-Week Classes will make up half of the course offerings starting in the 2024 Fall Semester
Long Beach City College (LBCC) will significantly expand its accelerated eight-week course offerings starting in Fall 2024. The eight-week class format will account for up to 50% of all courses to better accommodate students balancing their college studies with work and family obligations.

Long Beach, CA – Today, the City of Long Beach, in partnership with Long Beach City College (LBCC), celebrated the grand opening of the North Long Beach Higher Education Center (Center) with a ceremonial ribbon cutting, open house and mural dedication. The Center will serve to increase access to higher education, job training, and technology and business resources for the North Long Beach community.

Long Beach City College (LBCC) celebrated its first center dedicated to Black student success with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on April 22. The new Black Student Success Center celebrates the African Diaspora and provides important mental, physical, spiritual, intellectual, and financial support services to advance students’ personal and academic progress.
2024 Student Leadership Award Winners Announced
SACRAMENTO, Calif. —Four student leaders, dedicated to equity and inclusion on campus and in their communities, have been honored with the California Community College’s annual Student Leadership Award.
April Brown of Long Beach City College, Claudette Clark of Cuyamaca College, Jessica Lopez of Coastline College and Nikhil Masand of Contra Costa College were recognized April 5th at the Student Senate for California Community Colleges 28th General Assembly in Santa Clara.
