Laptops Gifted to 100 Incoming LBCC Students
The Long Beach Center for Economic Inclusion (LBCEI) presented Long Beach City College (LBCC) a donation of 100 Chromebook laptop computers for LBCC students on Mon., June 22 as part of the citywide #InThisTogetherLB pandemic emergency response campaign.
Together, LBCEI and LBCC distributed the 100 Chromebooks during an event at the Michelle Obama Neighborhood Library to incoming LBCC students who live in North Long Beach.

Abimbola Idowu Mitchell to Address the Class of 2020 at Virtual Online Ceremony
Long Beach City College announced that Abimbola Idowu Mitchell is LBCC’s 2020 Valedictorian. She will address the Class of 2020 at LBCC’s first virtual Commencement Ceremony at 5 p.m., on Fri., June 12 that will stream on the LBCC website.
LBCC 2020 Commencement Moves to June 12
Long Beach City College rescheduled and revised its annual Commencement exercises as a virtual ceremony to take place on Fri., June 12, 2020 at 5 p.m. Local chef and LBCC alumnus, Visoth Tarak Ouk, better known as Chef T, will serve as the 2020 Commencement keynote speaker.
LBCC Mourns the Passing of Tom Clark
Long Beach City College is saddened to hear of the passing of former Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustee Member Dr. Tom Clark. He served as Trustee from 1998-2014.
“There are very few people in Long Beach who have dedicated entire decades of their lives to public service, and Tom Clark is one of them,” said Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees President Vivian Malauulu. “For 16 of those years, he shared his vast experience and knowledge with LBCC to the benefit of our students. He will be greatly missed.”

Applications being accepted through May 29
The Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Citizens’ Oversight Committee (COC), which oversees District bond projects, is seeking a new member to represent the Local Business Community. Applications are being accepted and are due by Fri., May 29.
