LBCC Announces Tuition-Free Second Year Through LBCC Foundation

During the monthly Long Beach Community College District Board of Trustees meeting held on Nov. 13, college officials announced that LBCC will expand its tuition-free education to two years to all qualified Long Beach Unified School District students starting fall of 2019. The funding for the second year will be provided by the Long Beach City College Foundation.

LBCC to Host First Annual Social Science Night Oct. 19

Long Beach City College will host its first annual Social Science Night on Fri., Oct. 19 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. This free, educational and family-friendly community event will feature interactive social science games, activities, displays and discussions hosted by faculty and students from multiple areas of LBCC’s Social Sciences Department.

Social Science Night will feature LBCC departments such as Anthropology, History, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. The inaugural event will have the theme of “Change the World Using Social Sciences.”

LBCC Oversight Committee Seeking New Member
Applications for Community-At-Large Member being accepted through October 29

The Long Beach Community College District (LBCCD) Citizens’ Oversight Committee (COC), which oversees District bond projects, is seeking a new member to represent the Community-at-Large. Applications are being accepted through October 29.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and reside within the LBCCD boundary, which includes the cities of Long Beach, Signal Hill, Lakewood and Avalon.

LB College Promise Announces Groundbreaking
College Promise 2.0

The Long Beach College Promise announced a new milestone today with the unveiling of Promise 2.0. Beginning in fall 2019, the enhanced initiative will feature a guaranteed transition from Long Beach City College (LBCC) to California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) for qualifying graduates of Long Beach Unified School District (LBUSD). In addition, The Promise welcomed the Port of Long Beach as the first industry partner in the Long Beach College Promise.

Long Beach City College Hosts Large Community Job Fair Sept. 11

Long Beach City College will host the Long Beach Community Job Fair at Veterans Stadium, 4901 E. Conant St., on Tues., Sept. 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public, with pre-registration required.

Job seekers should bring resumes, dress professionally and be ready to be interviewed. There will be free parking for the day at Veterans Stadium, but not in adjacent neighborhoods as vehicles may be cited or towed.
