Sculpture
The Long Beach City College sculpture curriculum is one of sequential progression where students begin with a strong technical background covering the fundamentals of 3-D design and the formal elements of sculpture while investigating various materials and processes. In intermediate coursework, students develop an awareness of conceptual concerns through assigned and self-directed projects.

FACILITIES
Our studio facility rivals that of many four-year institutions and includes a well-equipped shop and an outdoor sculpture yard for welding and foundry work. LBCC SCULPTURE students regularly transfer to: UCLA, Cal State Long Beach and Fullerton, San Francisco Art Institute, California College of the Arts, Art Center College of Design, and the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Degree students have worked with us on graduate portfolios and have enrolled in MFA Sculpture programs at UC Irvine, Claremont Graduate University, SAIC, and Otis College of Art & Design.
The K113 Sculpture Studio environment: open, evolving, committed and engaged; supportive, yet challenging; inquisitive, studious, and extremely industrious. It’s about experimentation and action working in an atmosphere that’s directed and critical. In K113, we embrace mistakes and failures as part of the creative process while analyzing a variety of ideas that pertain to sculpture, its history and its status.
